
Created in 1936 the Néouvielle reserve is one of the first natural and unique reservoirs in France. It covers 2,313 hectares (5,715 acres), ranges from 1,800 to 3,091 meters (5,910 to 10,145 feet) in altitude.
It’s exposure East - west allows us to enjoy a good climate, we speak about a microclimate.
The black pines (pinus uncinata) located often in abrupt slopes, cliffs and ravines beat record of altitude and of longevity. The principal characteristic of this reserve is a real succession of lakes (more than 70).
The access to the reserve and the Orédon refuge is possible thanks to a regulated road.
Opening of the road : End of May (open for lake fishing)
Closing : As the first snow flakes fall (October-November)

For the reservoir preservation, car access is regulated and it’s necessary to pay an entrance fee starting the 1st of july to the 15th of september. Car traffic is prohibited every day from 9h30 a 18h30.
Parking is located at Orédon’s parking service, a shuttle will take you to Aubert’s site. During the shuttle, explanations and descriptions of the site will be detailed.
